UPCOMING - FANTASTIC AND FASCINATING WORKSHOP ON THE BODY AND HOW IT COMMUNICATES
- DON'T MISS IT!
'The
Body Dynamic -Tools of the Trade': An intense, energized, 8-hour workshop that will open the door to the world
of body energy and body-reading in psychotherapy and everyday life.
As professionals and personally we long to understand
communication. We learn a myriad of techniques to facilitate a greater understanding of our client and selves. We are driven
by the primary belief that connection is possible, that authenticity is healing and that communication is key.
Watch a baby’s
face. One second it's unbridled joy, the next, a brief storm of fear passes. Followed by many other emotions in an endless
flow of expression. The felt experiences of the child are being broadcast live through the face and body as it happens. There
is little or no editing going on. It is fascinating because the communication is prolific, mesmerizing and authentic.
This is our first clue that the human body is the communicator, the instrument, the experience, the intention.
Now, if you could
suspend your own inner feelings, and read the baby's face, and feel what your own body does while you engage the baby, you
will see the ability to connect to the shift in your own emotional states as you follow along with the baby's expression.
Your feelings changing from delight, to sadness, to wonder, to anxiety with all of the felt flashes inside you flowing as
malleable and fluid as the baby's.
The human body is the great teacher, the authentic and wise communicator. What do you
watch when your client sits with you? Do you do what is usually the natural, or appropriate thing - engage with her eyes?
Do you ever watch breathing patterns? Do you notice your own body' response to your client? Do you 'read the news' in your
client's posture, vocal inflections, slight movements of the eyes and head, in the use of the hands? Do you react to your
client's size, demeanor or muscular tension? Do you read proximity?
'The Body Dynamic -Tools of the Trade' will provide
you with a rich curriculum of personal experiences blended with techniques that will leave you with numerous new tools, a
renewed sense of possibilities for your practice and a deeper appreciation for the simplicity and elegance of the body as
your teacher. After this workshop you will be able to engage with your clients in a NEW way!
Drawing from a diverse
and creative theoretical base of practices including Bioenergetics, Gestalt, Jung, Yoga, and more, the course is designed
to demonstrate the wisdom of the body to teach you to consult your own body experiences as they inform your intuition.
Our intent is to help you learn to 'read' the embodied experience of others in ways that limit the imposition of your own
projection while allowing you to decipher the language of the body. help you engage it, to learn to understand it, and to
use it.
This
day will be followed by a series of 5, one-day courses that will elaborate and deepen your capacity to blend the body-centered
TOOLS with what you already do.
We will provide you
with a manual that covers every TOOL, and with a set of variations you can practice.
Facilitated by Barry Walker,
